Verlichting Mortier still has its feet on home soil. Our roots: Gerard Mortier starts as a self-employed electrician in 1965. In 1983, the lighting and electrical shop in Aalter opens its doors. For years, the Mortier family has been supplying the whole of Aalter and the surrounding area with a wide variety of electronics and lighting. With son Pieter and daughter Saskia assisting in the business, specialisation in lighting grew in the 1990s. Not just any expertise. From our rich history, we pioneered the use of durable steel for areas such as the coast, and the awareness for our brand grew, resulting in an increased demand throughout Flanders for our materials and innovative designs. Together with the development and introduction of our own brand and universal system for spotlights, it heralded the start of psmlighting. Where psmlighting supplies design lighting to the professional, Verlichting Mortier provides a personal and professional approach for private individuals.
Our lighting systems and designs became widely known. Interior designer and daughter Saskia, together with the technical expertise of her brother Pieter, created a fresh breeze.
From 2000, we have received several awards for design and technology with psmlighting and Verlichting Mortier.
The showroom, workshop and storage space were starting to burst at the seams. After the move to the Groendreef in Aalter, the small electrical shop has long since ceased to exist. However, our personal approach remains our pride and joy. The virtual showroom, the user-friendly website combined with our personal and professional service give you everything you would expect and more, for bespoke designer lighting.
